UPDATED December 2013
This post will be kept updated as a summary of the current group training rides and shop rides available around the Heidelberg area. Banyule Cycling Club - "Training for racing"
The Banyule Cycling Club is a social cycling club with a mixture of competitive racing members and non-racing social members. Our group "training for racing" rides are geared towards competitive and experienced riders that prefer a smaller and well behaved group, tempo and fast paced riding, minimal waiting time for regroups and being able to practice race craft such as rolling turns.
In conjunction with Team Bicycle Network we offer two training rides during the week:
Tuesday 6:15am - Meet at Benjamin's Patisserie on Upper Heidelberg Rd Ivanhoe (near the Library) at 6:15am or outside Kew Guide Dogs entrance on Chandler Hwy at 6:30am. Two hot laps of the Boullie (~40kmh avg) with track or rolling turns depending on the number of riders. Back to Benjamin's for coffee afterwards. Bags can be left at Benjamin's.
Thursday 6am - Meet at the corner of Heidelberg Rd and Station St Fairfield. Tempo down to Black Rock then fast paced rolling turns back to Clarendon St South Melbourne for coffee by 7:40am. Bags can be dropped off in South Melbourne and collected after the ride, making this a great option for riders with CBD based work commitments.
