I just wanted to let you know that next week we'll be doing some work to repair the significant cracking to the Federation Trail between Millers Road and Geelong Road. This will require closure of the path for several hours during the day. We'll do this outside of peak times so as to minimise disruption to commuter cyclists. At the moment we're looking at Tuesday 7 May, but this will be dependent on the weather.
We realise that this section has been problematic in the past, so we're trying a different technique to fix this now. I'd be really interested to hear your feedback about how it's operating once we've completed the works.
We're really sorry for any inconvenience caused while we do these works. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you should have any concerns about this.
Very best regards,
Metro North West

Unfortunately no amount of repairs will solve the cracking issues on paths & roads out here in the western suburbs. That is the nature of the environment out this way, it's all built on clay soils & volcanic rock. There is some massive cracks opening up on sections of the Deer Park bypass. Even sections of 100mm plus thick concrete on the Kororoit Creek path is cracking.
