Thank you everyone for your kind words and advise. Just to clarify a few things, I do know how to ride a bike I am just not sure I want to ride my bike. I have been hit twice whilst riding confidently and safely due to bad drivers. The driver who killed my sister did not make a mistake he buzzed cyclists prior to hitting my sister earlier on the same road. He was so close to hitting my brother in law that it was lucky there were not more fatalities. My BRother in law watched in horror as his wife was hit from behind and dragged under the truck and trailer. He witnessed her cardiac arresting three times and dying at the scene leaving behind two teenage boys. This was not a MISTAKE!!! It was cold and calculated and he will probably get off with a slap of a wet bus ticket because that's how things work here. Stay as safe as you can but remember things that do happen that are out of your control. If you want to read about it google nz herald and it is there or go to Campbell live on tv 3.
