I am looking at changing my look 496 from a normal track bike (mostly set up for madison, points, scratch... enduro events) into a pursuit/TT bike. I figure some you guys, particularly those that compete in masters track events, may have seen other guys burning around the track on one of these.
the problem is that my look 496 doesn't have a standard head stem - these things are a fairly custom item, there aren't a huge number of maise bars which fit them, and none which will allow me to use a set of clip ons. If you know/of any other guys who use 496 track bikes as TT bikes, do you know what aerobar systems they use? particularly the base bar, as the 3:1 ratio is pretty important in track apparently.
I ask because while the geometry seems okay for solo events, I have never seen this particular model of 496 track set up this way. This is possibly because that year was the year the 596 track came out, which was a dedicated time trial and pursuit geometry.
Any advice would be appreciated, also anyone with an opinion on why the 496 track would/should not be used for individual events please let me knowhttps://www.velodromeshop.net/index.php?p=product&id=877
