Report so far on the Rocket Giotto.
Imagine the old Breville as VW Golf. Automatic, lots of pre-programmed features, most of the helpful, some of them annoying, often gives a sense of "I am German and know better than you". Efficient, hard to stuff up, but not the most exciting thing on the road either.
Imagine the Rocket as a 1200 cc Ducatti motorcycle. Easy to kill yourself on, but if you master it - addictive bliss.
I'm beginning to get a handle (!) on the Rocket when it comes to a double/two shots but the single is still outwitting me. Strggling to the the pressure up high enough - really need to tamper the grind down hard. The milk the other main challenge - the steam is far hotter than the Breville, so you can end up cooking the milk before you're textured it.
Design-wise the machine has a couple of oddities. The various wands are supposed to stay cool to the touch - ha! The head is quite low, (obviously not designed for the dreaded mug-a-chino), and there's no low-water indicator - it just shuts off.
But the coffee, when you get it right, is lovely.
Very happy with our new kitchen friend.
