I want to try and do the ride in 10 hours, and have been trying to work out what time I should get to Dinner Plain. Can anyone who has ridden the course before tell me what time I should aim to arrive at the lunch stop at Dinner Plain?
Assume the following: - an even effort on both halves of the course (I don't bomb out on the second half, nor do I go too slow on the first half). - an even amount of rest stops on both halves of the course - leaving Falls Creek at 7.00am. - I don't spend any time stopping for lunch (I will stop for lunch, but just to keep the calculations simple lets assume I don't stop).
I'm also looking at the timing, but 10 hours is a bit too ambitious for me. Take a look at this. It appears that to do the ride 10 hours or less, you'll need to be in the top 10% of riders and be leaving Dinner Plain less than 5 hours into your ride.
Maybe ask BNV to send you the ride times files for the last 3 years (or make them accessible again on the web - they are there after each event) and do a 'sort' on finishing times and from that see the times the under 10hrs arrived at the timing points around the course. Last year was great weather and first year appalling weather so there may be some variance in times or just less riders doing it in under 10hrs depending on weather conditions.
