Hehehe, how soft we've become
I rescued an '80s road bike from a friend's barn, and fitted the drivetrain to a cheap eBay frame that fit me better. 13-23 combined with a 52-42 crankset is even less suited to... well, just about anything really
In a 39:23 low gear, the slowest speed you can go without dropping below 80 RPM cadence is 17 km/h. That means you essentially can not climb hills that are too steep for you to maintain > 17 km/h ground speed.
I tip my hat to anybody who can climb a proper hill at that speed, but personally, I spend more time down around 12 km/h on the steep stuff, which makes a 34:27 low gear marginal.
who grunted his way up Mt Warrenheip on Saturday, in all it's >20% sillyness on the lower slopes. No standard cranks for me, thanks... unless it's a triple.
