geezus mate have to say lucky, looking at the injury list, hope it all heals well ... one day I"m going to start a thread on 'helmet saves' ahh maybe I won't pretty obvious. I've had 1 OTB from a chain snapping under load and every time even now years later I think of it as I start to power up a climb - sounds like there was nothing you could do to avoid that one. you must have some power to have caused such an impact on your body. good luck.*Beano* wrote:^^Thanks Guys
Definitely feeling heaps better today. Home last night from hospital. Got a few weeks off work so I'll probably be on here a bit!
Had a look at my bike today and .........

What kind of bike were you riding to lose the chain like that, you mention a derailleur. Is your bike a 10x1 where there is no front derailleur?
I ask this, as I’ve previously dropped a front derailleur & had no end of problems with dropping my chain. In MTB nowadays, the big mod is to go 10x1, but riders do fit a ‘fixed’ chain guide on the top of the front chain wheel to avoid the chain coming off the top when it’s bumpy.
I’ve noticed some hybrids and/or hybrid-type bikes which do not have anything on the front chainwheel like this & really wonder how effective this is to avoid losing the chain of thwe front chainwheel.
(perhaps I digress...)
