Definitely feeling heaps better today. Home last night from hospital. Got a few weeks off work so I'll probably be on here a bit!
Had a look at my bike today and was surprised by how well it faired, but I haven't had a proper look yet. Front wheel is slightly buckled, the chain is wrapped around the rear derailleur so there might be some work there, but other than that there are some superficial scratches so it doesn't look like it will take much to get it back on the road.
My helmet took a beating, I didn't recall hitting my head at the time, but if my head hit the road the same time as my back did. the impact to my back is all I remember. My neck is bruised and sore which is consistent with it being suddenly and quickly twisted.
Impact point: crack is just below the marks on the casing

So the helmet did its job. One thing I was glad was happened was I never lost consciousness. The fall happened at 5am on a main road in a section with no street lighting and large overhanging trees. As I lay on the road immediately after my fall I realized two things. 1) I couldn't move or breathe well 2) there was a cars headlights approaching from over the crest behind me. I managed to drag the bike from the edge of the road towards me with my foot and hold the bike above me with my front light pointing back towards the oncoming car. Whether he would have seen me without it I'll never know.
