Why does Jussi Veikkanen (currently 10th in GC) have an Aussie flag against his name on Ch 9 coverage .....He's actually listed as French on the TDU website but he's Finnish riding for a French team.
Am I missing something ... or are Ch 9?
I know it's Australia Day and we'd like to have an Aussie in GC contention, but ....
Listening to the tool who anchored the last half hours post-mortem, pretty sure the channel 9 is wrong here without checking. Every time he opened his mouth, I cringed. I suspect he's ex-rugby. Maybe get Robbie to anchor.
Todays stage was the first coverage I've watched this year. I wanted to think that channel 9 would do an OK job, and it wasn't too bad, until the end. Would've been nice to see the other riders cross the line so that we had some idea of GC without having to wait for the graphic to pop up 2 or 3 minutes after the stage finished. Pretty fundamental mistake. I could go on, but they're new to this and will hopefully learn a bit about cycling for next year (I assuming they'll have it again?). I'm reading Ned Boulting's book who started covering the TDF with zero knowledge (quite amusing). In fact never saw a bike race before his first tour, and 10 years later he's incredibly knowledgeable, so there is hope yet for channel nine.
Anyway, GO GERRO. Great finish. Great to see him turn it around after earlier disappointment in the week. Lets see if Goss can overcome the power of the Lotto train & the Gorilla tomorrwo.
