Perhaps a little, but 150km with just over 1000m climbing is not all that unusual. The Amy's ride on the coast, AAC and the 3 Peaks courses come to mind as being considerably more difficult no matter what your fitness. "Epic" gets rather overused... I had an epic long mac this morning (it was just too long).
I signed up for it because its cheap, but I ride most of these roads pretty often and the elevation will be over 1500m by my guesstimations. Never crossed Moorooduc Hwy there but guessing the traffic lights are the reason for it, would probably prefer to go up 2 Bays Rd. The bit I find strangest is turning down Main st of Mornington on a Sunday at that time of day and then whether or not the Espanade will be open to traffic or you get the detour up Hearn rd with 140 k's in your legs. Then after that you can detour through Martha Cove houses rather than go straight through the tunnel.
