For those of us who are bespectacled and have tried various inter-changeable lens' wrap around sunnies without success. ie. specs behind the sunnie lens.
eg. Rudy Project, BBB, et.al.
Per Ausbike Expo last October:
There is an optometrist in Exhibition street (also has an outlet in Brunswick st), that can make wrap around interchangeable prescription lens:http://www.occhio.com.au
or more specifically: http://www.occhio.com.au/eyewear-products/cid/19
Not cheap however a viable alternative for those of us who hate having the prescription lens behind the sunglasses lens:
I gave him my prescription from my local optometrist and he was able to fit my prescription - which is by no means thin. I'm loyal to my local optometrist to test my eyes as he knows my history + my family history.
This product is only relatively new to Australia (< 6 months) and he's already sold out his first manufacturing run.
Can do different coloured lenses + polarised + antiglare coating + transition lens
Mark II version has a wider arm on the frame and a better colour. In my opinion Mark II are a better looking frame. Mark II is also stronger lens as they can be used as safety glasses and can be made to "ballistic" proof standard to prevent schrapnel flying in the eyes if you ever enter a war zone (thats on my bucket list....not). His plan is to target manufacturers and armed forces with distributors being set up around the world in both sport, manufacturing and govt sectors. the photos detailed on the above website are Mark I with Mark II only arriving last week instore and they are continuing to develop the frame to be more aesthetically pleasing.
Frames + 2 sets of lens minus private health insurance set me back: $1040-ish. Not cheap but I hate the BBB cycling glasses I currently wear with the prescription lens sitting behind the sunglass lens.
