Road surface resheeting on the Eastern Freeway a few years back used this sort of permeable tarmac. Drive on it during heavy rain and the road is virtually dry, whereas other surfaces are awash. It has also been used on a section of Mitcham Rd near me I believe. This could be easily used for the bike lane, with sub-surface drains placed in the lane to take water from the existing road lanes to the drainage pits.
