Police breath-tested more than 1.2 million road users throughout the period, which began on November 16 and ended at midnight.
During that time, police identified:
•5045 disqualified and unlicensed drivers
•6559 unregistered vehicles
•24,709 speeding offences
•3299 seatbelt offences
•6077 mobile phone offences
Police also impounded 472 vehicles.
"While its an improvement on last year, the results show that one in 450 drivers breath-tested returned a positive reading - that is still far too many,'' Mr Hill said.[*]
