I've recently gone to a Japanese style futon, which is even better. Upside of sleeping on the floor, don't have to worry about hotel room beds. Floors are floors pretty much.
Why? I couldn't find any good science saying beds are necessary or beneficial, so I experimented.

Even my wife & I who share a bed have completely different ideas on what makes for a good bed arrangement.

This was a cheaper option than getting a full tempur mattress. 1k compared to 3k.

B1k3BOy did you consider "1k compared to 3k" a 2k saving and may justify N+1. Tempur definitely comes at a premium. Even their mattress topper is around $1800 I think. It would want to be good. I recall a place that offered a 30 day trial period on purchases. The best time for that would be now.

I read multiple forums about the topic and a lot of people said the Memory Foam topper on a firm mattress is a good combo. I like it so much better than latex and it feels right for me. The money I saved on the bed has gone into new wheels and groupset, and tyres, chain etc etc
