It is customary in Denmark to have some musings on the past year. Please allow me to get a little sentimental, I often reminisce while sitting by the Little Mermaid sculpture, thinking about the previous year.
Well, we all feel sick in the stomach when someone has a nasty incident, let’s begin and get that elephant out of the room. It makes you think about what is important in life, cylcing, plenty of time for jacuzzis, and many friends of the opposite persuasion. So you were no doubt all as sad as me to find out that Cicli Pina had a bad muffin at the Emerald Bakery recently. We all feel for you, and hope it has not put you off your cycling. Get well soon.
I was chatting to Team FlexorCranks media director, Bjarne Ross, the other day over coffee. ‘Yes,’ I said, ’modesty, punctuality and equality are important aspects of the Danish way of life, but Bjarn-o (you see a little bit of the Aussie is rubbing off on me) you really need to not be so shy.’ I took this photo of him. I really think he needs to come out of his shell.
Back in Denmark, Odense is my favourite town, not only because my beloved Hans Christian Andersen was born there, but because over one third of all residents are cyclists, and the cycling road network is fantastic. But it is flat. As a former Danish Alps Championship rider, I am still hurting at the criticism that I am not training our hill climbers well enough, so I am thinking of introducing a new hilly MRR route, called the Goat Run, with a northerly orientation, starting AA, along Canterbury, then north and out via Elgar, Doncaster, Williamsons KOV to Foote Street KOV Lower Templestowe (and if that’s not far enough, then throw in some sweet Burgundy /Heidlberg just to be sure). The return would be back via High Street KOV, and Greythorne Rd, and onto Belmore Rd in time for KOV, Fintona, and Maling Room Cafe. Yes, despite the call for KOV sprints to be banned, we will be enhancing them more next year. (Too soon?!)
Team FlexorCranks is for life, not just for Christmas. You are family, unless you need to be sacked. We a very happy to see that old, ancient riders, are coming back onto the MRR and receiving their due accolade. We are also very welcoming of the new riders, and assure you that it only takes five years at TFC to get a promotion from domestique. So don’t just dream it, do it. Join Team FlexorCranks today.

Sven - you do not need hills. I am sure your Danish riders of the past trained by riding into the wind....Happened this morning on Beach Rd when the strong Northerly put the majority into the small ring.
