Have you seen the helmet being developed that comes over your head from a scarf type arrangement from the back of your head? In a destabilized situation a sensor triggers the air bag type helmet and it inflates and comes into play to protect the head. It is based on the auto air bag system.
Yet no one can invent a cheap inflatable throw away helmet that can fit into a back pocket.
But what do I know.
