Why wouldn't you count the Charge Filter Hi as a genuine CXer?
Those and the Croix de Fer look pretty good, the Charge being slightly better value from Wiggle (though hardly anything is in stock). Oh and Wiggle don't have any of the Charge bikes listed in X-Large.
Curious about all this talk of 25mm and 28mm tyres, I want to run 35mm.
I've err never had a bike below 105-spec before. How's the Tiagra or Sora work? (Actually I'll probably avoid the Sora, so that all the bikes I have are 10-speed and could share parts.)
Only because of the standard mudguards. If you were buying a CX to compete then I don't think that the Filter Hi would be your first choice, but that's not meant as a criticism, it looks like a great bike and I'd consider it myself if I was in the market for one.
Looking last night, I think I saw the standard Charge Filter for $640. (Sora groupset)
Sora has the little rabbit ear gear shifters next to the hoods. They might have a paddle for up-shifting, but its a rabbit ear lever for downshifting. I don't know if its just like this on my Fuji but the gear cables also run directly inwards (at right angle to the hoods) before bending back to the downtube, it looks a bit messy and can obstruct a light beam. Other than that its OK.
