I've decided to get another set of wheels (clincher, road bike) and I'm looking to spend no more than $250. Main reason is that I want to run different tyres for commuting and longer weekend rides and I just want a quick changeover. Also I have been led to believe that the standard Alex rims that came with the bike really are the low end of the market and that I would notice the difference even with something like Mavic Aksiums
So what's the best bang for buck at that price? I know a lot depends on what specials are running.
I'm leaning towards Mavic Aksium
which are going for $224.50 the pair at Cellbikes or $195 at Chain Reaction. They get a lot of good reviews around the various forums. I just noticed that CRC also have a pair of 2006 model Ksyrium Equipe for $244. They must be better than the Aksiums because they have a fancier unpronouceable name.
Whats the story with all these Shimano RS10/20/30? and Campagnolo Khamsin?
There's so many different brands available, are they all pretty much the same at that price?
My riding weight is only about 55-60kg and I don't go real fast so they won't be heavily stressed.
EDIT: probably should have mentioned that its a Tiagra 9 speed, and i just saw theseRS30
on Bike Exchange for $249. How do they compare?
