Cyclists make up almost half of all vulnerable road user injuries in and around Melbourne’s CBD and in around 75 per cent of cases, it’s car drivers who are at fault.
We’ll be targeting offences such as disobeying traffic signals, not wearing a helmet, riding on a non shared footpath and motorcyclists riding in designated bicycle lanes to prevent the amount of road trauma involving vulnerable road users.
so how exactly is not wearing a helmet, riding on a non-shared footpath, and motorcyclists using bicycle lanes contributing to the above-mentioned 75% statistic? I hardly ever see motorcyclists using bicycle lanes, and as far as I'm concerned, that's one of the least threatening behaviours I see on the roads.
My confidence in Victoria Police just keeps dropping, the more they come up with "blame the victims" rubbish such as the above.
