As some of you know, I'm in the market for a new road bike, so I'm doing some research on various bike bits.
I didn't want my "Question on road bikes" thread to be the anti-Seinfield thread (i.e. the thread about everything), so I thought I'd start a tyre thread (excuse the pun
). I've been comparing various road bike tyres on http://www.roadbikereview.com
(a nice website), and my head is spinning. There are so many tyres to choose from.
I did try searching for tyre-related threads on these forums, but they have so many different titles, I just got frustrated after a while. But if any of you think my thread is redundant, and know of an existing thread I can read, please let me know where it is
I'm looking for a tyre with the right balance of puncture-resistance and weight. As you may know, I do some fairly long rides, and with plenty of hill-climbing. Naturally the latter means that grip is fairly important (on the down-hills), and so is weight (for the up-hills). I also plan to use 700x23C size tyres.
What are your preferences, and why?
Also, can someone explain to me what the pros and cons of clinchers vs. tubeless tyres are?
