Hangover severity is one of those things that vary widely from person to person so generic charts are mostly useless. For example I never get hangovers from Rum and Coke - never. And I've had a few benders on them while I was living in the deep north. I figure it is because of all the extra sugar in the Coke somehow restores my blood sugar levels, I suppose I could try Rum and Diet Coke to test that theory one day.
I get the worst hangovers from anything with added Sulphur Dioxide (preservative 220). Its very hard to find a good supplier of wines with no added 220 probably because it has a shorter shelf life and most people don't care, so I don't drink much wine. Fortunately most of the boutique breweries do not add 220, another reason why I stay away from the big brewers. Although I understand that SO2 is produced naturally during fermentation anyway so I suppose its a question of how much.
All this thinking is making me thirsty and if the sun wasn't behind the clouds it'd be over the yard-arm so I'm off.
