Round 1 was fully subscribed, but there were a few "no-shows". 27 riders contested the day.
Blackburn track is looking good - there were repairs to the surface earlier this year, and some keen forum gardeners - percrime and publius naso (maybe others also?) had tidied some overhanging bushes. The sweeping team was in full swing when I arrived, removing glass and gumnuts and revealing the concrete surface.
The track was damp from this morning's rain, but the breeze and a little sun dried it out in time. A light drizzle just at start time didn't wet the track or cause delays. The Flying 200 times ranged from 20 seconds down to 13 seconds, so the Chief Comm soon had us sorted into four grades for the match sprints.
As we have come to expect, racing was exciting - with many races being fought down to very narrow finishing margins.
Congratulations to all competitors, officials, helpers and spectators - another fantastic days racing at the aboc Summer Sprint Series.
Oh, and sausages!
Edit: Flying 200 range was 20.927 seconds (34.41km/h) to 12.688 seconds (56.75 km/h)
