It's a great experience, but it's definitely very tough. The on bike part is hard with the climbing, heat and humidity, but when you're done with the ride at the end of the day, you still have to set up your tent and then camp, followed by waking up very early in the morning, packing the tent and your stuff to put it on trucks, so they can get an hour or so of a head start on the racers. Rinse and repeat 5-6 times.
It's a very rewarding experience, and the support and cheering crowds make you feel like you're a pro racer, even if you're just cruising
But be prepared for a very tough week, and train hard.
