This ride has gone very quiet maybe you need Chopper at the back of the peletom to get the bunch firing again.

It's a challenging loop with some low hanging fruit for Strava KOMs last time I road it! So with this in mind and a fairly big spread of fitness levels coming, I have a strategy to keep the bunch together with regroups, so the faster people can still take off from the sweep rider (Sean) on the climbs etc, so everyone feels like they've had a good work out, and that people have not had to kill themselves trying to keep up any unsustainable pace to hold the wheel in front. In saying that, it's not a ride to come along to if you haven't done much training in a while, it's a hard course!
The plan of attack:
Warm up: 12.5kms until we turn right at the roundabout onto Gisborne Melton Road. (Really fit blokes in their small chain rings, breathing through their noses to keep the bunch together for the start please.)
1st Strava KOM of note: after the 12.5km mark a right turn is made at the roundabout, where there's a 5.7km climb at 4% ave. Nice climb to stretch the legs after the warm up which might have been considered a crawl for some!
1st Regroup: After this KOM there's another 8 or 9kms until we hit Gisborne (28kms into the ride.) Once the first guys hit Gisborne, please turn around and ride back to the sweep rider (Sean.) An active recovery/regroup, and once we're all collected we'll continue on as a group back into Gisborne and towards Macedon.
2nd Strava KOM: after another 7kms or so of keeping the bunch together we'll hit the Mt Macedon KOM! Let's try and keep the bunch together until this point again.
A challenging KOM up to 1000m alt. 10kms long at 5.4%, similar in legnth to the Skenes Creek Road climb on Gran Fondo day, but this time with the first 5.5kms at 8.2%!! You make a left turn at 5.5kms in, and ride towards the Memorial Cross.
2nd Regroup: Once the first riders make it to the Memorial Cross, please turn back and collect the sweep rider. It is fairly undulating on the 4.5kms section out to the Cross, so a nice active recovery to the sweep rider after a big Strava Segment!!
3rd Regroup: Once we descend the back of Mt Macedon, we turn left onto Romsey Road, and left again onto Woodend-Wallen Road. Once we hit Woodend, the front guys can turn back and collect the sweep rider again, or just wait in High Street Woodend. About a 15km section, mostly down hill so hopefully the bunch isn't too spread out.
4th Regroup: We Follow High St through Woodend, which becomes Black Forest Drive back to Gisborne. Same deal with the regroup after this 15kms section, either wait their or turn back to collect the sweep rider in Gisborne.
Then it's 30kms home, back the way we came, with more down hill than up hill, so hopefully the bunch doesn't spread out too much along here back to Diggers Rest.
The sweep rider (Sean) will cover 106kms, with the riders up the road on the big climbs that double back to collect me might make it a 120km day for themselves. Ride time of about 4 hours i'm thinking.
I hope to see you there on what is a great and challenging loop, on roads less travelled!!
