I've just written to BNV pointing out the unfairness of their new school pricing. Now all students pay the Youth 17 and Under price of $625. That means school kids 13 and under would pay nearly double the price for the privilege of going with their school, rather than going as a normal participant at $325. Previously there was separate pricing for Primary and Secondary school students.
Our primary school has participated in the last 4 GVBRs. I accompanied the group with my older girl in 2009. This year my younger girl is planning to go, my older girl is going with her high school and my wife is planning on going (for the first time in nearly 20 years).
But this pricing change is seriously affecting the viability of the group's going. Most kids of this age don't have suitable bikes, so families have to budget getting new bikes as well as clothing, camping gear, transport costs etc. If only a small number of kids end up going, then the school may not be so supportive of giving these kids the opportunity to participate in this life-changing experience.
Hopefully, BNV will restore the primary school price, and not unfairly penalise our kids.
