I'm surprised one of these hasn't rated a mention yet.http://www.dealextreme.com/p/magicshine ... uded-42077
I have one, it's crazy bright. It runs off the same battery pack as the regular magicshine front lights, it's probably visible from a km away, I can't look at it straight on.
The trouble with this "brighter, brighter, brighter" approach is that it ends up with an escalating war where drivers claim they can't see bikes unless the bikes are fitted with a christmas tree's worth of 50W flashing plasma canons (while simultaneously mysteriously managing to avoid unlit dark green wheely bins)
Yesterday evening I rode in towards the CBD after sunset along Gardiners creek path and found I had no problems seeing oncoming riders with ordinary flashing headlights, _except_ for when there was someone behind them with a megawattage possum spotting headlight. I guess it's worse with headlights since so many people aim the damn things _up_ where they blind oncoming riders.
