I have holidays this July (perfectly timed for TdF... how good is that) and Ill be spending a few days up at Hotham for some skiing.
Im VERY tempted to bring the bike up and get dropped off at Bright on our way up, and ride up solo with the idea that my driver gives me a head start before following, meeting me half way in case i need support/a ride/etc. This ride will be done on a standard road bike with 25mm tyres and a rear spray flap (to keep my butt dry).
So my questions are-
Has anyone done this in winter with full snow?
Will I be even allowed by authorities to ride up if cars are required to fit chains?
Would I even make it if cars need chains (eg- will I get enough traction)?
Am I a crazy mofo for even wanting to do this (hmm.. i think I already know the answer to this one...)?
So, do you like... STUFF?
