Yep. I'm an introvert.
Introvert does not necessarily mean shy. It means that I need time alone to properly relax and recharge. Extroverts properly relax and recharge in company and find being alone stressful. That is, of course, a very broad statement and you'll find most people fall somewhere between the two extremes, but most people have a tendancy to preferring company to relax or preferring solitude.
I don't do big groups very well. When I socialize (and I do regularly) if the group gets larger than 4 or 5 I find that quite stressful. If I do find myself in a big group, it's usual for me to engage in a deeper than is usual conversation with one or two others in that group, paying scant attention to others there (which I always feel guilty about).
It's taken me a long time to realize this about myself, in fact the last three years is the first time I've lived on my own and frankly I've never been more relaxed (after the initial depression of getting dumped etc).
All that has even less to do with the OP, but I felt the surprise warranted a response.
