I did some online quote things, with insurers such as Allianz, and they came in about $1000 cheaper. This was listing my bike as a $10,000 personal effect that I take out of the house.
Is there a problem with insuring my bike like that? Am I missing something here? it looks very peculiar.

I made the decision to live with my home and contents policy for commuting, training and racing because (a) the extra cost of an all-in policy would be over $1000 p.a plus a crabon excess and (b) it would have to be a really nasty racing crash to write off the entire bike and parts. That, plus I'm far too fat and unfit to race at the moment
