Yet another fantastic GravelGrind!
We started the day under darkening clouds at Belgrave. The day got off to a shaky start with Cleatus having to fix a flat in the station carpark before we had even left. All fixed up and after getting our route instructions we hit the road. We got about 5 k's and the puncture fairy came back to visit Cleatus. After a hole in his rubber Cleatus needed to visit the family clinic.
All fixed up we headed off again through some lovely tall timbered bush. A quick sprint along Wellington road and we were in Cardinia reservoir park, the ride along the dam wall was a highlight, some great views across the outer edges of Melbourne.
Then the puncture fairies got me, twice
Thanks to Canuck for waiting with me while I got the first one fixed up. All fixed and we were off again.
Some steep climbs and descents got us to the Cardinia aqueduct trail. A lovely spot to have lunch and a terrific trail, I'll be coming back here.
It was Canuck who had an issue next with a slowly deflating tyre, we did the gentlemanly thing and all stood by while she fixed it herself. A few more solid climbs then a steep descent to our first creek crossing.Cleatus watches Canuck get her bike across the creek while I take photos hoping she will fall in.
A steep walk back out of the valley and a quick blast downhill and we had to cross the creek again. Ian rode across and ended up with soggy feet. Having watched this foolish behaviour Canuck and I took our shoes off and walked across. Some great little gravel roads got us over to Lysterfield and yummy raisin toast at TrailMix.
The ride back to Belgrave was fantastic, loved the ride through Lysterfield and then across to Birds Land park.
But then came the rain, not just a spit a downpour. It couldn't spoil the lovely time we were having flying through this bit, just magic.
A steep final pinch and we were back in Belgrave.Muddy bumMuddy Bikes
Thanks to my mates for helping make a great day, always have a blast riding with you lot.
Huge thanks to Blakey and Angry for organising such a top ride, this is one I will remember for a long time. You blokes are legends.
