I find climbing a frustrating business.
I mean I enjoy it immensely, it's my favourite thing to do on a bike, but like yourself have climbed mountains expecting something grand and instead getting something average.
I would focus more on the fact that you climbed Donna at a good pace and then set off a a demanding loop of the inner Alpine area.
That's excellent fitness.
...But angry's report is wonderful; I hadn't seen it and there's some gems in there. Yeah, it has to go on the list. If there's a four hour uphill hike, I'd probably prefer it in daylight though. Call me a wuss.
Yes If I was going to do the ride I think I might give the bush bash a miss and ride it there & back. Overnight room (including breakfast) is $45 at the Woods point pub. Not that I've looked into it or anything.
The one I really want to do though is the Mt Stirling circuit road.
