I've been thinking recently that a helmet camera might be a good idea so I'm looking for options. As far as I can work out, some important features would be:* Water resistance
, a must for cycling. Doesn't have to be able to be submerged, but must cope with rain. * Form factor
. I will NOT wear a GoPro on my helmet - something smaller and less brick-like is a must for me. I don't want "video sunnies" either, since I wear good quality glasses already. * Helmet mounting
. Has to work.* Battery life
. Needs to be > 2.5 hours.* Resolution / field of view / frame rate etc
. I'd want to be able to read the number plate of a car going past. * Low light performance
. For half the year, my commutes are in the dark - I know that many cameras would struggle with this. * Price
, of course.
Some options I've found that seem to tick many of these boxes:* Drift Innovation HD170 Stealth
, around $270. HD, LCD, low-light mode. * Tachyon OPS HD
, around $180. Looks really good on most counts (small, light, reasonable optics, relatively cheap) but not waterproof.
Are there any others I should be checking out?
