On the subject of age & climbing I remember being creamed by an older gent on a ride with thorle somewhere near Kinglake. I only found out later he still races with the Eastern vets. Man could he climb!

The only time I've ridden both up & down the Reefton Spur was on a weekday. Very few motorcycles that day. Having said that we came across a rider who had just put his Kawasaki 1100 over the edge.
You're right, there is a small pinch near Cambarville before the Reefton spur turn off now that I remember. Didn't seem too bad on the day because you know you're about to travel downhill shortly.
There were a lot of trees that came down in that storm we had on Christmas day on the Acheron way. I'd assume they would have been tidied up by now?
