My average today was 22 kph (no drafting) over one lap. I can go a bit faster than what we did today, but presumably not much faster (unless drafting!)
I wouldn't mind riding this but a couple of possibly silly questions -
Is "one lap" from Chandler to Walmer and then back to Chandler or just Chandler to Walmer?
I know it says "self paced" but what averages are you currently doing?
One lap is starting and finishing at Chandler, i.e. to Walmer and back.
The average speed on Monday was 22 kph - I think that was the speed of the other Cogsgirls woman (although I'm probably not much faster than she is.... and she is sure to improve because she's just getting back into training after a long time without much riding). Don't know what my maximum would be on that terrain if wheelsucking. The guy who has been riding with us (just to Walmer on his way to work) each time on his single speed is presumably capable of going far faster on his single speed than what I can do on my road bike, but don't know what his pace would be if he wasn't waiting for us girls. The other guy from Meetup who will join us when he can make it on time, I don't know at all what his speed is. Then there is Wheels Too, who, as you quoted, does 24 kph average.
It is fine to split into two (or more) groups according to pace, if four or more of us attend on the day. So, if 22 kph average is too slow for you, you can go faster and still have someone riding with you
