Last year we had a much larger group. Consequently, when we stopped for a break it was very hard to get them going again and the journey took longer than expected. This year it looks like we might have a smaller, faster group
The distance from the COG to Warburton is 33KMs and at avg speed of 16.5 Km/Hr that's exactly 2 hours riding time. Allow another 30-45 mins for stopping time. If we leave COG as soon after 10:00AM as possible our ETA for Warburton is 1:00PM.
Allow another hour for lunch and start the return journey at 2.00PM. The riding time from Warburton back to the Lilydale station (38 Kms) is 2 hours 34 mins @ 17 Km/Hr or 1 hour 54 mins @ 20 Km/Hr. Allow 20-30 mins for stopping time and ETA at Lilydale is approx 4:45PM. Sunset is at 5:44PM and civil twilight ends at 6:11PM
If people feel they'd like a slower trip and/or more coffee stops along the way then we would need to get out of bed earlier and plan to leave the COG at 08:30 or 9:00 instead of 10:00AM. I'm flexible on starting times and will fit in with whatever the majority wants
