Had a good day on my first Amy's ride (120k). Thanks to J9 for the organisation, collecting my rider kit and delivering it. Met a few fellow forumers in peleton 3 at the start, and some doing the 70k ride who came over to say hello. Kept sort of with the group for the first 10k or so. Had a chat with DCyclist. Then "the hill" happened
I'm sure someone said it was a "flat" ride because it was around the coast. Part way up I'm wondering why my Garmin kept beeping at me - it wasn't til after the hill that I regained my presence of mind and realised I'd set an alert for HR zone 5 some time ago
For some reason Blaze decided I needed a helping hand, which while surprising was appreciated at the time - except that it didn't last. Thought I might catch up again going down hill into Curtin Springs, but dropped my water bottle (first time in ages) and had to stop and go back. After that I just rode either on my own or with whoever was going around the same speed. Met a few forumers again at each of the stops. Did NOT like the head wind, and the blustery wind from the side wasn't pleasant either, but the tail wind was wonderful. Had a chat with Chris21 and Damhooligan at the finish, and Squeeza in the line for a massage after. Was well worth the wait for the massage - a re-occuring sore shoulder after long rides was not only alleviated, but some exercises suggested.
Most riders were well behaved. A few in some of the faster groups seemed to think "A metre matters" didn't apply to them - OK to pass closely and come back in early. A few times I was wondering if Vettel had been training them on overtaking technique. Appreciated the vollies directions, was left wondering at a couple of intersections so just followed the bikes ahead, but I didn't even see any stencils on the road - wasn't looking for them and they didn't stand out. All up a good day, which I'd be happy to repeat.
