I had a look on the Metlink website, and there was a "V" next to the zone, which indicated that it could be V-line ticket price.
- Code: Select all
Southern Cross dep 8:35 am 9:35 am
Sunbury arr 9:08 am 10:10 am
I think the earliest train that leaves Southern Cross (Spencer St) is 8:35 am on a Sunday ... which is after all of the "first trains" on the suburban lines have arrives at Southern Cross/Flinders Street station. (From research previously).
BUT - when I look on the Metlink website - the earliest train time is the 9:35 am, which gets into Sunbury at 10:10 am
When I went to the V-line website, and did the "Calculate your fare" thing, it said that Melbourne to Sunbury was within the Zone 1+2 area of the Met system ... so would this mean that on a Sunday, the "Sunday Saver" ($2.50) would apply?
If so - brilliant (except the first train arrives a bit late for the start of a ride, I suppose).
I've just rung the V-line information service, and you can only take bikes on locomotive trains, subject to luggage space availability. If a sprinter is running, you can't take the bike.
So looks like the V-line train to Sunbury isn't an option ... as I don't want to turn up to the station on the way to the ride just to find out that I can't take my bike
So looks like you'll have to decide on a date and time, and then I'll have to see whether or not I can get to Sunbury by train for that time.
At least catching the Met train with bikes is easy - just rock up and put your bike on the train. If only V-line was as easy as that!
How far is it from Sydenham station to Sunbury? I ask because the Met proper trains go to Sydenham - so if I was able to go to there and then ride, then I wouldn't have to worry about V-line and bikes at all.
Time I got ready to go home - haven't done much work today either, but I expected that ... honours theses due in today, so I had to frantically bind two people's theses just before the 4 pm deadline. (One done just before 4 pm, the other one done by 4:15 pm!!!)
