I have found 2 different selle italia diva saddles - one "gel flow" and one "genuine gel" (which i assume has been around a bit longer??) Is the shape the only difference?
Sorry for the tardy response. Do not take much interest in womens issues these days.
I am not an apologist for Selle Italia. As far as I can ascertain, Genuine gel means a layer of gel between the saddle rigid plastic base and the leather covered top. Gel flow means that in addition there is another layer with some softer gel in strategic parts. The Gel flow saddles seem to have cutouts and the genuine gel are continuous surface. I was not aware of any difference in the shape other than the cutout.
I have one of each (genuine Gel and Gel flow)
There is not much discernible difference other than visual, but on a long ride the Genuine Gel seems to be harder and less forgiving than the Gel flow. As a female YMMV. Caveat emptor, but cutout saddle seem to work for many females.
I thought that the two Diva models had the same dimensions and the Gel/Genuine Gel and cut out were the only differences between them. My daughter is now using a Diva Gel flow after coming off a Flite Genuine Gel and she says it is much better.FWIW
Stay fixed. Keeping a cool head.
