Yes - what I meant was, given a northerly wind, where can you go for a pleasant outbound trip, on a quiet road, with a good surface and just a few moderate rises - and be sure of a tailwind home? Answer: Wandong
I know that its very short notice but I plan on heading out toward Wandong in the morning, turn off toward Whittlesea do Humevale then back along Plenty Rd. Will be at servo opp Mc Donalds cnr Bell and St Georges about 7:30 ride off 7:45 if anyone is interested. Looking mid 20's pace. Ron
What a nasty little wind that was today. Everything was going great sitting at around 30 until we got to the other side of Epping then whoa where did that wind come from, it killed me, jed kept powering along waiting for me on three occasions over the 25km into it and it cut our average to the Whittlesea turn down to 22. Such a sweet ride into Whittlesea with the wind now behind us, would have averaged mid 30's I'd reckon as the 40 was visible for a lot of that section. Then back into the wind at Whittlesea to Humevale I was trying to conserve what I could but jed kept his pace, I saw him at the start of the climb then didn't see him again until I got to the top, with him under a tree airing his feet, socks off. The decent was great hit 77.5 then coffee at Whittlesea and nice tail wind most of the way home. I think jed held off a bit at the end for me but we stayed together til my turn off at the end. Awsome ride Jeremy thanks alot and if as you said what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, look out next week we should be strong as 10 men. Ron
Just letting you know due to illness this week I only got to commute 1 day. I will be riding out this way sunday morning although I hope to leave home around 5am (to be back for the start of the great race - that is 9am right?).
Will be covering the same course and hopefully the wind won't be as bad. Depending on wind will depend whether I do the climb up kinglake.
Ok, I'll meet you bottom of the barracks about 5:20 for a roll out from the old servo opposite St Georges Rd/Bell St Maccas at 5:50 ( usual places) if anyone else is interested. Should beat any wind that time of day, I might be able to take the kids out for a more kid friendly type ride when we get back. Ron
