Ride up was tough as others said with the wind and then the wind seemed to have turned around on our way home to hit us in the face again. Geee... thanks for nothing mother nature!
We had Vibe, Mattyb, PDL and myself for the ride and spotted several other BVers along the way including as we stopped at a set of lights, a motorcycle pulled up next to us as said "you must be BVers" (it was gregga).
As this was only my second time up to KL, I decided to do a timed run "just to see" and I put a random goal time of 25 mins (didnt really have any basis for this time, it just sounded about right). After what was a slow pace compared to my first time up (prob due to the headwind), I managed to cross the line for a 24:26 time. So my guess was pretty close after all.
Mattyb was uber fast up and I guess he beat me by about a minute or more? *shrug*.
PDL climbed well and wasn't all that far behind me so good to see she did better than last time.
Vibe arrived at the top looking pretty fresh and un-fussed by the climb. Cool as a cucumber he was!
Today was my first ride with a HR (thanks Blybos, very cool!) and it was interesting to see how I fared at times. Will have to spend some time reading the manual to learn all the functions as i haven't got a clue just yet.
Ride down was F-U-N, with the exception of the 2 separate incidents with cars passing cyclists totally on my side of the road on blind corners. I let fly with a loud FU#K! out of terror but managed to pull up and to the side in time. Sheeeeshhh...
After the turn at Wattle Glen I started to feel a niggling pain in my right knee. It was on the inside and top of the knee and the more I rode the worse it got. By the time I hit Fitzsimons Lane I was in hurt territory. Had to granny gear it up ever damn hill and ride with 90% of my power coming from just my left leg. I was cursing my body and it was raining pretty hard. Bah!
Limped (literally) home and the odd thing is my knee feels fine off the bike. Its just when applying power into the pedal it hurts like heck.
I think I'll take a day or two off and see how it pulls up.
Bummer way to end a great ride.
Thanks to Vibe and Mattyb for coming along and also for the encouragement from AK and outlook as we climbed KL.
Hey Outlook, did you see the wombat sign just after the base of the KL climb on the way back (just as you crest that kicker of a hill)? I SOOOOO wished i had a texta so i could write "Outlook" under it. Mattyb and I had a great chuckle about that one... hehehe
So, do you like... STUFF?
