In every 50km section there are some pretty tough hills and each year the event starts at a different town so that the race feels quite different and the hill sequence is changed.
At least this year, the worst hill is the second 50km section and then the ones after that area all ranked so I know I can get over them ok.

I don't have the funds or fitness to do it this year but I just love multi-stage events and definitely want to visit NZ - the TV ads have sucked me in!
K2 sounds interesting too - an acquaintance a few years ago (NZ native) also suggested I would enjoy "participating" in the event given how competitive I am. Will have to work on developing a holiday fund for some travel. There's master's world cups in Europe I believe, so that would be another fun thing to look into...
