I usually climb hills with a combination. Can't remember whose post it was on what bit, but they said you stand up count to 20-30 (I usually make it to 20 at a stretch!!) and then sit down again but when you stand up, change up a couple of gears then change them back when you sit down. Find it helps to make my legs feel a bit more refreshed when I sit down again and can keep climbing...
