Really. I've seen a lot of people walking up hills and pushing there bikes not all people can ride the hills.
Most Hybrids and MTB have much lower gearing for better (ie easier) hill climbing for mere mortals
Depending on your fitness and strength levels or if you don't like walking up hills the gearing on a standard road bike 53/39x11/23 might be too high for you. It might pay to consider a triple or a compact chainset on the roadbike depending on the amount of hill climbing involved.
The overall route looks to be down hill. Yet the first several days seem to have a lot of small hill climbs in them.
I would (if i was going) take my mountain bike or possibly fit a triple to my road bike. It's a bike ride not a Great Vic Hike!
