thanks for your response. I got out the melways and can see I am familiar with a section of Yarra Blvd near fairfield boat house. Steep and I am sure it will be challenging and good for me. On a road bike I think you may go alot faster than me especially on the hills! When are you planning to ride next? Re coffee shops, don't ride with out at least one infusion per ride so sounds good. Did you get the email from BV re car -free Yarra Blvd. It may be crowded but have the details of Car Free Cycling comes to Kew Boulevard! Will probably do this on Sunday with other email respondents. If interested can give you more details.
Location:Yarra Boulevard, Kew (Mel Ref 44.J2)
Date:Sunday 12 February 2006
Time: road closures in effect from 6am to midday
Ever wanted to ride on the road but worried about the traffic? Following the
success of car-free "Sunday circuits" in some of the world's other great
cycling cities, Melbourne's bike riders will have exclusive use of Kew
Boulevard this Sunday, 12 February. From 6am to midday, the Boulevard will be
closed to all motorised traffic, providing an ideal opportunity for cyclists
to have a hit-out on one of Victoria's most popular bike riding routes.
All are welcome to this free event. Portfolio Partners have generously offered
to provide complimentary coffee to all riders on the day - the coffee cart
will be located near the Chandler Highway end of the Boulevard, alongside our
event information team, so make sure you drop in!
