i got myself a new bike on thursday. excellent bike, but the rear derailleur settings leave a lot to be desired. using the largest cog was impossible because it made that terrible clicking noise telling you it wanted to move down. i tried adjusting it with my limited knowledge to no avail. so here i was without access to the much needed lowest gear (having moved up from a mountain bike to a road bike, it was a bit of a shock realising how the gear ratios are so much different.
and then i realised i cant click into my smallest cog coz the bloody gear shift seems like it's only meant for an 8 speed when i have a 9 speed!!!! i'm due to be taking it back to the shop on monday to get a less demanding front gear set with 32 teeth on the smaller cog rather than the ridiculous 40-something at the moment. so i will be addressing this gear calamity at the same time but the point is that i wanted to go riding this weekend, and i've got this new bike that i can't ride coz it wasn't adjusted properly before i left the shop!!!!!!
i'm reluctant to do any adjusting myself coz i'm scared of buggering my wheel by making the chain go over the largest gear. also, there's nothing i can do about my gear shift not having enough "clicks" to go to the smallest gear!!
i know there's nothing anyone can do but i had to write something to vent my frustration. my bike is just sitting here begging to be ridden. and now i've ridden such a beautiful bike, i can't go back to my old faithful mountain bike!!! but i may be forced to.
