Yes I'm here. Just don't have half as much computer access now.
First day - caught the train in - I figure I didn't want to get lost or have no idea where to go and not arrive at school until lunch time. Not a good look.
So caught the train and set off to ride home in the afternoon.
Ended up on the south side of the river and on a Mac something or other bridge and the bike path disappeared. Two ladies said "follow us" and I went off with them, back over to the north side and along that way. They stopped and just said "keep going that way". Most of the way I was just trundling along but I made a few wrong turns. When the path forks and neither of them was marked...
so I'd just ask someone and they'd tell me where to go.
I was stopped at one bit looking at my map and a long bearded chap with a team EDS jersey escorted me via Alamein station to warrigal road through the streets. He warned me the holmesglen golf course gates sometimes get locked so don't rely on it for access.
The next day I rode in, but got a tad lost again. Did the "hello I'm lost" thing and another chap told me where to go. But by that afternoon, there was just a few slows to work out and have a look and a think, but I've got it now.
The next day I dragged my bike up 5 flights of stairs at the chapel street bridge. Someone suggested I ride on one more km to the punt road corner which is what I'm now doing.
Its a pretty easy ride, but I'm used to a road bike, and my mtb is killing me.
I'm slower than ever and I'm carrying 3 times the weight I'm used to. I can't believe it!
So say hi when you pass me!
Blue backpack with a red bike light on it and a yellow slap band and a legacy flower on the front of it. Blue helmet. I've got glasses and a pony tail. (I'm not a hornbag!).
PS - where does the right hand track go at the junction of yarra trail and the burnely pontoon trail?
PS 2 - Stealth - thanks for the offer, but now I know where I'm going, I should be right.
