i also went down this road last year when my 09 R3sl cracked around the BB, got a new 2011 R5 with rotor 3D+ cranks, 3t dorico LTD seat post and all labour for the swap for nothing, all i paid for was some decal work (got the green bits covered with white)
to say the R5 is a better bike than the R3sl is an understatement! not even close, you wont be disappointed
Good news blybo.
I had the same deal as shaddy when my r3sl developed a large crack at the BB. A new R5 + 3D cranks.
I disagree with shaddy regarding the R5 being better. I sill have my R3 and I think they are both equally great bikes.
I do recommend getting a bike fit to make sure you are comfortable with the new geometry on the R series bikes. I ride a 54cm on the old style R3 and R5 but with a shorter stem. 25mm longer crank on the R5 too.
