We had them due to some teams ... catering finished late and the showers were closed by then... also Riders did not like the idea that if you were a Vollie that you got to go first even though they waited.
I as a vollie wait in line with the riders.... thats even if they know I'm a vollie and they say i can go before them. I see it as if they can wait in line so can I.
I don't think the majority of riders would mind if they had this benefit.
It's ok when you get the plumb jobs like campsite when the q's are not so bad and you have plenty of time to access them.
Vollies on the road leave at 5/6am and could be back at campsite as late as 5pm, they then have to set up there tent when most spots are gone etc, attend a team meeting, have tea and find time to have a shower - oh - and hopefully rest and socialise at some point. I can't see a problem where they can have their own showers and the same goes for catering. It was a great idea in the past and should be brought back.
By the way I am not saying any team works more or less than the other, but if you are on a team that goes from campsite to campsite, you have the advantage over those that are on the road in regards to the issues I mentioned above.
