How fantastic is that. It should happen on all bike rides. Part of the reason I decided to do Vollie on bike rides was to see different places, but I have found from the last 2 NSW rides that without access to a vehicle or ironically without access to a bike on the ride, and with limited free time, it can sometimes be difficult to even see the town, nor mind any of the sights.
I've been really caught out on this, NSW ride 2004, I went for a swim in Tuncurry on a hot day, and found myself with a long, long, long walk back to camp in the pouring rain, wearing nothing but my cosie, light dress and thongs, for over an hour. I then had to start work straight away. (anyone familiar with that ride will know that Bulahdelah was the next day, but that's another story). The things we do for fun.
Serously though, I did have a good time overall, that's why I returned the next year, and why I am doing the BV WA ride this year.
I hope this vollie sightseeing bus idea catches on for all the rides.
